Thanked: 328State Of The Site
Hello Gang,
For awhile now, I've been wanting to post something about where SRP is at, from a technical perspective.. And now seems a good time. I am moving in about a week, and once I get established in the new town, I hope to be able to get in here, and do some updates.
Azjoe (and everyone should thank him, he does the brunt of the work around here) and I have discussed a few things.. And I welcome suggestions.. Besides an general update of the site software, we've discussed a new chat room.. I want to finish the new blogs, and kill off the old blog section (For those of you that have not been to the (New Blogs) area.. Go...
I think it might be time to change the feel of the site a bit, something a bit less colorful.. So any designers out there, pitch your card in the hat.. I've been pretty up front about my color skills.
I will also fix the problems you MAC users have been having.
So make suggestion in the Discussion Thread I will be opening for this.
One of the main reasons for this post, is to show you the stats for the site..
For those of you that keep track of SR in general.. We've had growth here every single month.. That's pretty good.. So keep it up, and have fun..

This is a great site, and I'm happy to pitch in any graphic design work I can to spruce up the joint. I also design Websites on the side and may be of some assistance if needed. Feel free to e-mail or PM me.
Also: I have noticed from time to time that the site goes down. I get a splash screen from Mambo instructing me to contact the site's administrator. Is this a traffic issue or just a quirky server issue?

Thanked: 328Ben.. Shoot me an email, dave @ wessell . net.
The site downtime has been due to the MySQL service rebooting.. I've been in pretty constant contact with the hosting support staff about it.. Someone else on the server (We're on a virtual host) has been running a high load, and it's taken the host a while to pinpoint it.. That high load has caused the MySQL server to reboot, thus the issues..
They've assured me it's resolved, although they've said that a time or two before.. But I know they are working on it. Overall I'm happier with this hosting company, then any other I've ever used.. I can come up with some pretty odd requests, and they do what they can...
So long story short, it should be fixed.. If not.. I'll throw myself on the ground and pretend to have a seizure, until they fix it..

David,
I'll get an e-mail to you later this evening.
Also wanted to note that I have seen another error screen besides the one from Mambo. I imagine it's the same issue you described. The message is just text:
There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.
An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
