Tapatalk question
So I've been using tapatalk for a month or two now to peruse the forums and am really enjoying it. Thanks to the folks who did the legwork to get it set up! I do, however, have a question. I have a sneaky suspicion that it probably is on Tapatalk's end but I'll ask anyway...
When I click a link within tapatalk or on my email from my phone it always takes me to the full version of the site and then says that the site supports tapatalk but all I can do is click "cancel" to view html or click "ok" and it takes me to the android market to view the app.
Is there a way to make the forum recognize that I'm using a mobile device and want it to automatically open up in tapatalk rather than in the browser?

Thanked: 1371Update to the newest version of Tapatalk. That was fixed with the latest release.
Sidenote: Stubear (if he hasn't updated in the last month) will be pleased to note that the latest version also has all kinds of really cool moderation tools added.
Edit: It seems that some links work correctly, and some don't.
I will look into this more later tonight. Either way, you will need the most current version of Tapatalk for it to work.Last edited by HNSB; 05-23-2011 at 08:55 PM.

Ok, so checked and am using the latest version of tapatalk that's available on the ATT android market (i'm using Froyo on an HTC Aria). I haven't clicked a ton of links but those that I've clicked still keep bringing up the browser.

The same happens to me with Windows Phone 7, using the latest available app.

I don't really think it'll help, but here's a suggestion I read that has fixed various things for people using tapatalk.
Delete the forum from your favorites, then search for it in the tapatalk app and add it again.
May be somebody can try it and report if it did anything. At least there's nothing to loose.

Thanks gugi. I gave it a shot and it did not fix the issue with links opening in the browser rather than the app. However, it did fix another issue I had where the forum list would keep refreshing every couple of seconds, so thank you for that.

I tried going whole hog and uninstalling tapatalk then reinstalling it. Now I'm no longer told that the form is tapatalk native when I click a link from inside the app. It just opens the link in the browser.

Perhaps somebody can point to a specific posts that the links don't work, as well as one that work. I don't really have time to fix it, but if somebody else from the devs wants to do it, I can take a quick look and perhaps figure out what the problem is.

I did some digging and it looks like there is nothing to fix. Any links in tapatalk will open in the browser, not tapatalk. Slated as a feature request (that will take some time to implement) is opening internal forum links within tapatalk to actually open in tapatalk.
Like bharner, I no longer get the annoying popup when it opens links in the browser. It seems like removing/readding the forum fixed that.

Cool, this does make sense.
I guess it's up to the tapatalk people to implement the detection of internal links and open them in the app instead of in a browser. After all they get $2.99 from every person who uses it.
