    Default Other types

I wanted to kick this idea around.. How about having a forum for discussing other types of razors like DEs, injectors and cartrige types. Yeah I know the name of this forum but some members here use DEs. I won't die if the idea doesn't fly, but it MIGHT be a good addition to the site.

The thing is that even though we are primarily an SE place, quite a few of us use other shaving methods, so we might as well have a little corner for them. That's my logic.

I had thought about presenting this idea before, but decided against it. This is a straight razor place. SMF is a great DE forum, as is Badger & Blade, which also has straight razor forum, which sees little action. Admittedly, I use a DE more than a straight, but I feel just as at home here as I do at SMF and B&B. I feel my strenghts in contributing to this forum are in the brush/soap/shaving cream areas. I love my straights, but unfortunately, I have days when placing a 6/8 against anything that bleeds, specifically my face, is dangerous. So I'll use them when I'm able, and enjoy the friendship and fellowship here.

Yeah but we discuss straights on SMF as well. Usually in the Razors forum. Actually hanging out over there is what gave me the idea. I thought about suggesting a SE forum over there (where would strops fit in at SMF? lol) but I don't have enough of a pull and I don't know how popular it would be.

That would be interesting. Since I was there and a mod when the split between SMF and B&B occured, I would bet a dollar to a donut that SMF would say no. On the surface because it is primarily a DE forum, but under the surface because it would be "copying" B&B. That's just my opinion. I still mod at SMF and at B&B, and enjoy both of them. Yes, I would like to see a DE type forum here. It might get a lot of use, maybe not. It all depends on Lynn's vision for the forum. My hat is off to the man whatever he decides. Indirectly, he is responsible for my being here.

It could fly if it's not STRICTLY dedicated to DEs. Ofcourse that's what 90% of the topics will be about, but this way it wouldn't exactly be copying SMF. More like providing convenience for current members. Another consequence will be that fewer SRP members will be joining SMF as they'll have an outlet here. You be the judge whether that will be good or bad. I joined it because SRP was down and I was bored lol.

I don't have an "unbiased" opinion on this. I enjoy my DE razors, and i enjoy my straights. I belive it Lynn decides there is a need for a "DE" type forum, great. If not, great. This is his house. And I fully support him in his decision.
