Default Hit or miss private messaging.

I've sent a few PM's out that never got replied to. I assumed either my question was inane, or the person I was messaging was very busy. But today, it was confirmed that some people are not recieving my PM's. Is this something I'm doing wrong? I just type in my message and hit submit, right?

That's the jist of sending PM's, however if I recall, there is a limit to how many PM's a member can have stored at any given time, so maybe the members you are PM'ing have full inboxes. Just a guess though.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Not sure why I never considered that...Ah well, they probably were silly questions. Thanks Rearden

Just out of curiosity, I just checked the stats on my PM inbox, and it says I'm allowed 400 messages, so I guessing that's for members across the board. Another thing to consider is to make sure you're sending the PM to the member you are actually intending to send it to. I mention that because some members have similar "names" (ie any version containing straight/str8,etc). As for your questons, as long as they're not asking for a value of something or soliciiting, then just post them on the open forum. I think at some point we all have asked "silly" questions, but you won't get an answer unless you ask.

I thought that when somebody's inbox is full, there is an error that gets triggered and both the sender and the intended recipient get notified of that. At least it used to be like that.
The problem with PMs is that they are private, so we can't really look at them to find out what if anything is wrong. We can only try to replicate it with test accounts, but if that fails that's pretty much it.

Well, I just kept sending and sending until the intended recipient contacted me through other means. It has to be operator error though. This time I was just trying to reply to a message. I sent or tried to send it about 4 times I think. On the 4th try, instead of replying to message, I started new message...and that seemed to work. So it might just be that I should always "start new message"..over on the left there...Not below the message on the right. But below on the right will work just fine when I hit post quick reply..hmm well whatever I guess. Thanks guys. I was hoping there's some common error that all of us new PM'ers make, but guess not.

I can remember similar in the past. Could send fresh PM's but not replies. Wonder if it can be related to the site update ?
