Thanked: 334Post Your Original Manufacturer Instructions
The thread entitled "Boker Stropping Instruction???" has given me what might be a good idea: the creation of a Wiki section that includes/is devoted to photos/downloads of original manufacturer's instruction sheets for razors, strops, and hones. What do my fellow SRP members think about this?

Thanked: 443That's a great idea. I know folks have pictures of their Frictionite hone instructions; I've seen 'em with my own eyes.

Thanked: 334Thanks, roughkype. I've been in contact with gssixgun, and he likes the idea. I've PM'd Bruno about it, and I'm waiting to hear back from him. Should I try to get Mr. Lynn Abrams on board? After all, he is the founder 'round these parts.
"Lynn to the white courtesy phone, please!"

Do it. No need for further approval. Start up a search and see what's already been posted.

Thanked: 334AFDavis:
Thanks! I just don't know how to create a Wiki subsection or add to an existing one. Hence my need for a moderator/administrator's assistance. I'm awaiting a reply from Bruno, but it is quite late in Europe right now.
I'd also like to get "the word" out to SRP members who have these artifacts, hence this thread.

Thanked: 334Any other SRP members have thoughts about this idea or are willing to comb through their personal archives? Any and all input is appreciated!

Thanked: 334Gentlemen:
It is not my intention to "drop names" in support of this idea, but Mr. Lynn Abrams (Founder of SRP), Bruno (Administrator), gssixgun (highly respected Senior Member), and earcutter+ (a fellow SRP rookie like myself) all think positively about this endeavour.
I do hereby respectfully request all SRP members to donate the contents of their personal archives to this attempt to further the stated goals of SRP
Most respectfully,
mapleleafalumnus

Thanked: 334Castel33 provided just what I seek for my proposed project.
My intention is to give full credit of citation to members who provide LEGIBLE PICTURES OF ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER INFORMATION info re: their razors, hones and strops. I guess I should provide some guidelines for submissions:
1. Photos should be legible.
2. Please provide a picture of the razor, strop or hone itself along with any info you know about it (ex. when you acquired it, date of manufacture, blessings by shamans, was it ever used for a bris, etc.).
3. Submit pics to me via PM or post here in this thread until I figure out how to create a new Wiki or Library page.
4. Full citation of credit will appear for submitted pics. That is, under each photo will appear the caption "Submitted by ___."
I greatly appreciate all assistance in this project!
Most respectfully,
mapleleafalumnus

I love your readiness to improve the wiki, but unfortunately issues with the software recently prevented new members from registering new accounts in the wiki since a site upgrade some months ago. Unless this has been rectified, you won't be able to submit the information yourself.
I don't know how bad of an idea this is, but I wonder whether the admin might allow one of the old test accounts to be shared among a few members who express willingness like yours to contribute to the wiki
good luck! Like AfDavis11 alluded to, we have a lot of good info like this in the wiki, but it is not all consolidated in one page or even a page of links. You can browse the hones images and the razor database and the old help files for many of them

Thanked: 334Thanks, hoglahoo, I've found this problem out fro myself, as I've repeatedly attempted to create a new Wiki page and "meld" into an existing one. I've contacted Bruno about this, and I've yet to hear from him. My guess is that he is busy with more important projects right now. He is a volunteer, and deserves my respect for that. I will adhere to his timetable with no argument whatsoever.
picelfixed, I thank you for your submission! I'm sure some SRP members can translate it for us. After all, we're a pretty diverse and knowledgeable crowd. When I figure out how to get a new Wiki started I'll but out a BOLO for linguistics. As a retired hockey player, I am a polyglot: I know French, English, and Profanity.
