Sorry for the site outage...
there was a security issue and I felt the best action was to upgrade the forum software to the latest version. Sorry for the inconvenience. There will be some lingering issues due to the upgrade until I get all of the Styles (eg, Steel Blue, etc.) upgraded as well.

Thanks for giving us the heads up Joe. I guess I needlessly bothered Dave with the error report

actually, David gets most of those reports automatically... you don't need to forward them at all. You do need to contact one of us, however, when you don't get an error and the site is down.

11-20-2006, 06:07 PM #5I'll gladly do that...I'll just send you a pm!
But in all seriousness, we both have skype and non-site dependent email addresses that various mods and members know. So when there's an outage, the message usually gets through pretty quickly.
I wasn't more than a few minutes into the upgrade when my skype icon started flashing.

Thanked: 346I like the new link-to-original-post feature on quotations, it makes it easier to follow discussions, and makes quoting cross-thread practical.

There are a number of other new features. Many are in areas which most users won't see or care, but there are some that you may find useful... if I get time, I'll try to summarize them and post the list here. BTW, the security issue was (as seems the usual case) due to a security flaw found in the IE browser.

Joe,
My post was in jest, but last year, we had a power outage, and when I called the power company from my cell phone, the recording suggested that I call the emergency number, which is available online on their website. Now, I don't have a laptop! Comcast used to (and may still) have a similar message, telling you if you are having service issues, to visit their website. Power or not, if the internet ain't working...

Or, you can think of it: "It's not a bug. It's a feature" The site automatically shuts down to give you guys a chance to talk to your wifes...
