Here, here!! Ditto all that. The offers of help and suggestions from the "old timers" makes me come back time after time, and never worry about asking a "Stupid" question that I am sure these guys have heard over and over. Always something new to learn, especially for this new blood letter, albeit a lot less than when I first started thanks to this forum.

Yeah, yeah... welcome to SRP, "where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average."

Besides, I got banned over on left that other board...

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Whew, I thought you were going to tell us all off then!

I agree with your thoughts. The guys here I have found can all be categorized into one, big, genre; gentlemen, one and all...Weeellllll, apart from those Canadian guys, they're a bit hyper (and constantly drunk, I think) and us Aussies are a little outrageous too (and constantly drunk, I think)...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

The kind words in the OP are well appreciated but not terribly surprising. Over the four years I've been on this forum, I too have come to realize that SRP is in fact something very special. To most folks, a forum dedicated to old school shaving would seem a bit odd but truly there is a whole bunch more to it than that. In a strange sort of way, SRP enables guys from all over the world to rally around this hobby and truly become friends. Not just because we choose to pick up old straight or safety razors, a brush and some soap every day (although that's part of it) but because of the many other things that we all seem to have in common. Random acts of kindness are the norm here whether we're helping new guys just getting started in the hobby or rallying around members who are just going through the personal hardships that occur outside the daily shave and need some good friends to lean on for a minute. We are truly a society of gentlemen and renaisannce men. My fedora is off to each and every one of you. I'm proud to be in your company daily and fortunate to have friends of such caliber (I believe that's calibre for you non-Americans)

I agree with all here; this site is great, a true gentleman's (and ladies) club. For a site this size, the mods, posters and all who keep it running do a remarkable job. I'm glad the OP posted this; I echo the points others in this thread have stated with gratitude as well. I only add my voice here to make the sentiment known a little louder. Thanks to all.

So.... Remember that you were helped when you needed it, and pass that along to the next guys that need help. By being mentored, we allow ourselves to become mentors. By mentoring, we ensure that the next in line can become the next mentors. As the old saying goes: Sh*t flows downhill. Well, so does knowledge, and we are all on the slope. And I don't care how long you have been around, how many posts you have, how many folks you have helped, there is always something new to be learned, and sometimes it's the rookies who are doing the teaching.

It never hurts to listen, and it never hurts to be heard. By doing both, everyone benefits.

If it had not been for this site, the last 1 1/2 years of my life would have been spent still hating to shave. Without all these guys here, encouraging me, mentoring me and always offering to help, I wouldn't be in the position to help others I am today.

I feel lucky as hell to have found this site, lucky as hell for the friends that I have made here. We are fortunate to belong to a group with likes and interests shared. Count our blessings and 'pass it on'.

Great thread, thanks to the OP for starting it.

    Best wishes!!!

    Kudos here also!

I had a question for one of my friends who keep this site running like a Swiss Watch and I'd sent him an email with the question. He shot back a quick reply telling me that he'd get back to me as 'we' are trying to get this update to SRP done! I took a look at the clock and it was about 2am where he is and it was a work day the next day for him!!

I also had a newbie email me complaining that he was having trouble getting on at SRP. I told him that they were having some problems and just give it some time as the site is run by volunteers! He emailed back apologizing!!

    I thank all involved!
