    Default Are the classifieds "broken"?

I know I can't post into the classifieds -- I keep getting the message that I've exceeded my limit of 6 -- (not true). What I notice, though, is that there are no new ads so far today. That seems very unusual for a Saturday, and classifieds volume in general seems very light over this past week.

Maybe I'm seeing things that don't exist, it's not like I've done some statistical analysis of the listing and sales trends. Past instances of this problem have gotten replies that the software is "broken". That seems a shame given the amount of sales traffic that ordinarily flows though there and the number of times that newbies are referred to the SRP classifieds. Maybe I'm just stressing because I'm sitting on hundreds of dollars worth of razors and brushes and I hate selling on eBay.

Here's one more thing -- this should get some people frothing at the mouth -- I think that the sales portion of the classifieds should be monetized anyway. Charging $2.00 per ad wouldn't be onerous, and the cash flow would be good for the site. Seems like it might help pay for things like licensing, tech support, servers, publicity, you name it.

I'm not looking to step on toes here. Just because I'm not selling doesn't mean I'm not enjoying myself and taking advantage of the depth of knowledge and good-will at SRP. So -- thanks again to all the volunteers who make this place happen....even when I'm grousing it doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the work and dedication that others put into this.

One very large issue associated with revenue generated by the sales in the classifieds pertains to SRP liability to the parties involved.

Over the years Ebay has regulated to the point of alienation mostly in response to legal actions or threats.

Having deep pockets makes Ebay a valuable target but in the case of SRP we could lose the site.

Donating voluntarily to the Giveaway efforts here on the site offers a good way to support SRP and increase participation.

    IMHO
    YMMV
    It just keeps getting better

Not smarter just been threatened with legal action in the past for no particularly good reason.

I hope they fix whatever might be broken Stimpy as I find your offerings consistently the best for newbs and vets alike.

I generally tell em to look for your ad and act fast........snooze and loze.

Weird, I just placed an ad without any issues 30 seconds ago after reading this thread. Maybe I'm so dumb I don't realize my limitations

This is so true...I've never been able to get a "Stimpy"..... the ones that I want are sold by the time I check. One of the reasons that I always say "check the SRP classifieds first, and keep looking" is the great service and value that all of the vendors provide...

The issue is when you reach the limit of adds, after they expire placing more adds is not possible.
