Home!
I'm somewhat computer literate. I do okay. But I'm no genius. At several of the forums I visit, there is a "back to top" or "top" button displayed that allows you to, with one click, return to the top of the page of the thread you are viewing. Well, I've learned that the "HOME" key will also do the same thing. Most of you probably already know this, but I thought I would pass it along anyway!

OK than, here's another trick for you: End button will scroll to the end of the thread, and PageUp and PageDown will scroll through it. Neat, huh
cheers,

Thanked: 2Here's a little trick for you: When you're browsing the threads, instead of just clicking to open them up, right click and select "open in new window." That way when you're finished reading the thread you can just close that window and your right back where you started - without waiting for the page to reload. Really speeds things up when using a dial-up connection .

Thanked: 7I think you would really like tabbed browsing, which you can do in firefox and mozilla. Middle click (click the scroll button) in firefox will open a link in a new tab. I tend to open all the links i want to read in new tabs and then close them when i have finished each one.

You can also download IE7, which as tabbed browsing as well. Once you go tabs, you'll never go back, unless the company / government you work for doesn't want to use IE7 / FF. :/
Other handy keyboard shortcuts...windows-D will minimize all open windows; windows-r opens the run dialogue, which you can type web addresses into, saving yourself the trouble of double clicking your browser of choice and waiting for it to appear. Windows-E opens up a windows explorer window.

Thanked: 2Okay Sarge, that's pretty cool. Up until now that's just been my dammit key - the one I hit by accident while I'm typing and it causes the ..."Ah, DAMMIT!"
One last one - this is easy: In the task bar each header has an underlined letter (FILE, EDIT, VIEW, etc.). Hit alt + the underlined letter to drop down that menu, in those menus each command will have an underlined letter (NEW, OPEN, SAVE AS, etc), just type that letter to execute the command (w/o the alt key):
Example: To open a file, type alt+F, then O. Amazing what'cha figure out when you hit the wrong key by accident, isn't it?
