Thanked: 328Hey guys.. Is it when viewing the forums through the site? Or through the forums directly?
FWIW, I think Joe and I will be dropping the wrapper in just a few days..

Dave, we're having issues with the forums when going through the main site. When going directly to the forums, they are fully functional.

I just changed the smilie area of the message editor to be 2 wide instead of 3-wide... that will help some (at the expense of making us scroll up to get to some of the smilies.)

Thanked: 328Ok, well we're going to kill through the main site access here pretty quick.. I'm moving over the next few days, so I'm out of it a bit.. but Joe is doing some stuff in the background, and when he's done, we're gonna kill it..

I am personally against the idea, but if it's necessary for security reasons, who am I to argue

Thanked: 328Against what idea? Dropping access through the main site? How come? Your the first person I've heard against it.

Dave, I am assuming that by "dropping" you mean that the forums cannot be accessed through the main site and that a separate tab/window has to be opened for the forums. If that's the case then yeah, I'm against it as it messes with the functionality.

I think what David's saying is that the forum will not open inside the main site in a frame, but will open in a new window (or tab if you have a tabbed browser and set it to open new windows in a tab). The menu item to the forum on the main site will remain... its just what happens when you click it that will change slightly.

That's what I meant with my question. Even though tabbed browsing has made this easier, I can still tell you that I do not visit any site where a separate window for the forums is a must. Of course, I will remain here but don't expect me to ever like or even fully accept the idea. On a good note, as soon as you implement this, I'll be able to uninstall FF because its functionality will be dropped down to the current Opera level

Whatever works for you Ilija... you're the one driving your bus and it's up to you where you go. If you like Opera, then by all means use it.
We're not here to fight about this... like it or not Joomla and vBulletin are the major players for the software we're using. For now, they're the right decision for us. You'll note that both vendors post what standards organizations they adhere to... in this case, w3-xhtml and w3-css. The problem is not in the vendor or the standards... it's the browser people who can't agree on who/what/how they support these standards. I'm sorry you don't like that this is the case. I don't like paying taxes and driving at 50mph on most freeways... but I live with it
