Thanked: 1587I'm working on a honing app for smart phones*. It has information, but perhaps most usefully it will use the built in gyroscope to assess your honing stroke. Yes, you will be able to actually hone on your phone! You'll also be able to purchase, at modest prices, re-useable abrasive screen protectors in various grits. I'm just trying to figure out how to waterproof the whole thing at the moment.
(*not a serious app, though if someone decides to do it....Copyright Jimbo 2013)

Thanked: 1587No. And due to Apple's DRM requirements unfortunately I will have to charge you 10 times the normal amount.
And, rather than being reusable, each honing screen protector will automatically permanently seal itself to the screen requiring you to buy a new iPhone each time you need to change grit.

My favorite thing about my iPad is that it's big enough to use the full version of the sight via safari. Only time things get mushed is when PMs have quotes in them.
And it does get annoying when it autocorrects my razor lingo...

I would seriously doubt SRP would engage in making a specific app however, vBulletin 5 has integration for iOS and Android users. SRP is currently using vBulletin 4.3. There are some downfalls to moving to 5 which would include but not limited to, upgrading the Classifieds to be compatible with 5.0, integrating 5.0 and hope nothing is lost from the previous version, downtime, using up moderating/developer volunteers time, custom skins that are supported... etc. The other downside, most people that want the full capability to use the forum on the iOS and Android would need to purchase Forum Runner for $1.99.
So, if one thinks about it, yes, there is an app for that. It just requires a lot of work to upgrade what we already have and enjoy. Oh, and the forum upgrade costs $200. Ouch!

VBulletin 5 is still in development and has not been released as a stable software suitable for production sites, so I can't really comment on whether it will ever become the platform for SRP.
As far as a special app for the site, I don't see it happening. We've had people talk about it in the past, but that was all - just talk. When it came up to actual work into it, nobody did anything.
I have installed tapatalk, so that those who like that interface can buy the app and access the forums that way, but that's the extent of what we can do with the resources we have.
You have to remember that this is not a commercial site - it's a community and therefore is only as good as the community is willing to make it.
