Where the hell have I smelled this before????
A short story long...................Verbally abused someone who used to work for me who lives in Glasgow but travels to France. He hand carried a number of tins of Martin de Candre scented shave soap to me in California. With the care package came some soap samples which is de Candre's typical practice. One of the soaps was fougere for which de Candre makes a shave cream. The smell drove me nuts as it was familiar but memory vague. After a while it struck me where I have smelled that scent before. As a kid I used to buy a black bath soap from Spain carried by Crabtree and Evelyn. It was a wonderful soap and I fell in love with the scent. Martin de Candre Fougere smells just like this soap. I cannot describe fougere but it is one of those OMG this smells awful, well not that bad, its growing on me, I'm in love scents.
It is not a fragrance that everyone will appreciate. For me it brought back childhood memories and I am sending this fellow back to Paris to buy the fougere scented shave cream.
I have a full beard (for 50 years) and shave every other day. I realize that the 174 shave soap/cream products currently in my shave display room will last me 400 man years but I just had to have the fougere scented shave cream. The good news is that the de Candre products are very very good.
I am in an OCD therapy group for shaving addiction. Obviously it's not going well.Handsome is as Handsome does

I received a couple small bars of that MdC Fougere soaps when I ordered their shave soap.
At first I didn't love them all that much, but by the time I had used them all up, four pounds had been ordered.
It is the only hand and shower soap I use these days.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
