Thanked: 3225Pre shave oils and creams you put on before you lather up. I don't know if they help much in preventing razor burn and redness that goes with razor burn, I don't use them. If you are getting a rash, not razor burn and redness, you might be allergic to something in your shaving kit.

i dont know if you can really prevent it but i think alum block and distilled witch hazel are the best cure.
try applying what you are using to another sensitive area like back of wrist or elbow crease. if that gets rash you will be allergic to something
edit. less pressure will prevent it but that takes practiseNet.Wt.7oz

Thanked: 3225Yea, the best way to cure or at least minimize razor burn and it's redness is to improve your shaving technique by using next to no pressure on the blade and watching your angle on the blade. Ensure that your razor is sharp and that you have a very good lather going. All that takes time to come together. In the meantime you might want to try some after shave balms to try and sooth your skin.

Yea, Bob's right. It's easier to prevent a fire than put one out. Improve your technique and you won't have to worry about razor burn. It will be a bad memory.
