Is there a soap that smells like...
Before switching to straights, I used to make an effort to find a can of shaving cream that smelled like the hot creams I fell in love with in Germany, that the base barbers used. The closest I found was Gillette Foamy "Barber Shop" scent. It wasn't the same, but is was a scent I found pleasing. Is there a soap on the market with that scent, or similar?

Can you describe the scent to the best of your recollection?

Thanked: 3225Haven't got a clue as to what the scent was like that you smelled in Germany but you might want to take a sniff of Tabac if you get the chance. It is German soap and smells old timey to me. As a bonus it is great soap.

TOBS shaving shop maybe? Fendrihan has a TOBS sampler set that may help.

I have no idea what that German barbershop smelled like but Mamma Bear makes a Ye Old Barbershop scent that I really like.

Hunting for that scent sounds like a recipe for serious SAD.
Besides the previously mentioned Tabac (fantastic, someone once said: "smells like the 70's") the soap that comes to mind is Barister & Mann - Saville - it was a way-back moment for me.
Something lighter - more floral? - the light rose scent of Klar Kabinet perhaps?
Good luck on your quest - it's good to have a reason an a goal to explain how you ended up with Bank Boxes of stuff squirreled away...Support Movember!

I'm not a fan of floral. I have Castle Forbes Cedar and Sandlewood, D.R. Harris Marlborough, A soap from Mike's which is a blend of cedar wood and bergamot. Mama Bears Spellbound woods. I like all of these for different reasons, but there is something about the scent of the gillette...

Perhaps try Erasmic? It's got that oldschool barber's vibe to it. Strangely enough I found a new stick in a plastic push up deodorant type container last summer and thought there's no way a new improved formula will be any good. I was wrong, it totally trumps my 12 year old stick. Sadly I haven't seen any more since.
