I like this soap.
The scent is spicy, exotic, a summer scent in my opinion. It is a perfect much to old spice white water.
The lather is rich and you can have a comfortable shave, but quite poor in hydration of the skin. I know that it is sensitive on water quality, so if you live in a area with "hard" water you may have difficulties.
It is a descent soap but not as good as tallow based soaps (Mitchell's, tabac, D.R. Harris etc).
Unfortunately, C&E is not using tallow any more.
The ingredients of the soap are:
potassium palmate, sodium palmate, potassium stearate, potassium palm kernelate, sodium palm kernelate, water (aqua), sodium stearate, glycerin, fragrance, palm kernel acid, (parfum), isopropyl myristate, tocopheryl acetate, bisabolol, sodium chloride, tetrasodium EDTA, tetrasodium etidronate, tetrasodium pentetate, bht, linalool, limonene, amyl cynnamal, coumarin, hydroxyisoexyl 3-cyclohexene, carboxyaldehyde, eugenol, titanium dioxide (CI 77492)Harry

Thanked: 220Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad?
Sorry, I haven't tried it, but I think I might. I didn't know they made shave soap. Their lotion is top of the line, so the soap should be pretty good as well, (although maybe it's not!) The only thing left to do it try some.

Thanked: 9I like the scent of Sienna better but that's just me. The new formula soap is a bit lacking in performance. It makes a nice looking lather but there's not much slickness to it. Unlike some soaps that leave some slickness behind after the blade passes over, there is nothing left behind with this soap. So it works for me as long as I don't try to revisit an area even right after I've hit it. My 2 cents is that I don't like the Nomad scent much and the performance is not as good as lots of similarly priced alternatives.

Thanked: 6I'm rather new to shaving with anything else than a cartridge razor, I just started using a SR for just over a month... and I'm loving it.
I've been using brush and soap for a long time now and I remember using one of my father's creams until I came across this lovely soap.
I absolutely love the smell and as with many others, once you lather it the smell gets a little bit more subtle. I have to say that not knowing how to properly lather it, I always ended up with a watery running foam instead of a nice thick lather.
Lately I've been using a mug to create a lather and it has worked pretty well but I've noticed some things with this soap.
After reading and watching a lot of videos and posts I noticed the "upside down brush" to get the soap on the brush.
I also read that some soaps work better if you soak them with a little bit of warm water before lathering. This is not true with the C&E soaps as this introduces too much water into the mix.
So far, the best lathers I've got with this is:
1.- Soaking a boar bristle brush (I don't have any other brushes yet) let it absorb the water for a minute or two
2.- Put the brush upside down to let the excess water to drip freely and give it a little shake
3.- Use the upside down technique with the soap dry and finally lather it in a mug. (I use a coffee mug)
This method has given me some really nice lathers although is more foamy than creamy, or at least not as creamy as some of the reviews I've seen from Tabac or MWF. That being said, with just a few strokes from the brush on to the soap and lathering on the mug gives enough lather to do two or even three passes if you need.
I also noticed that instead of holding the brush upside down and holding the soap on top of the brush, holding it sideways and let the extra water to go down instead of back into the brush works best.
Here's my 2 cents to this topic, so I hope it helps.
Cheers.
E.

Thanked: 375Like the scent of Nomad, but performance wise, the lather is gone after the first pass, no residue left that would facilitate razor glide.

I have used three Crabtree & Evelyn soaps.
One Siena and two Nomad.
First of all, Nomad scent cannot beat Siena according to my opinion.
Second, I found them acceptable but nothing exciting.

Nice fragrances, but you can get better lather from other soaps.

Thanked: 0Its a nice soap i have the nomad and the sandalwood for some time now and its more like a midday to evening use in my opinion.
The smell is not very special but its soft and spicy with a little hint of woody in my opinion i find it a difficult smell to explain.
And like Eco82 i use a shaving mug aswell to get lather so far it work great for me but its not a very quick lathering soap.
The only complaint i have with this soap is the bowl it comes in, its a nice looking bowl but it make for a lot of spilling because the low edge to the soap.
But thats my opinion.
