By most accounts the scent is love-it-or-leave-it. I must confess that I haven't tried the soap but I can't stand the scent - indeed the reason why I didn't buy it. C&E soaps have a good reputation for performance though. If possible I'd recommend going to a brick and mortar store where you can sample before buying.

I'm one of the ones who loves the smell of it..probably one of my favorite scents. The performance is kind of hit and miss for me, depends on the day but an overall good soap.

    Gentlemen,
I have used most of these soaps through the years. Most of the fragrances I have liked, especially the sandalwood. The lather, however, has not impressed me. There are far better soaps for the money.

Like homeless people and camels. Seriously I don't know, but the C&E west Indian lime cream is VERY nice.

I use it, its the only soap I used so far.. so I can't compare. However I find it very easy to make a lather out of it. (I mention this because I read some treads that guys have trouble make a lather... so I wondered what its so difficult about making a good leather, as with this soap its very easy to make)

I really like the smell, but I find Arko or most creams (TOBS, T & H) easier to lather. Now I'm used to it I get good results, though.

You probably do want to find it in a bricks and mortar shop so that you can smell it, it's quite distinctive and I'm not surprised to read that it's a love-it-or-hate-it scent.

The C&E soaps are tallow based, triple milled, and are excellent. I did not like the Nomad scent, so I picked up and love the Sienna. The puck will seemingly last forever, and it produces a very good lather. These soaps are hard to beat for the money. Good luck.

In quite like the scent but I do understand why some don't. It DOES actually remind me a little of those things you put in a urinal to stop the smell, but not as much as Arko which is almost EXACTLY that scent.

It lathers quite well but not spectacularly.
