Default Savon le Père Lucien (Le Père Lucien Soap)

A guy on a shaving french forum offered to test his new barber soap in order to check if his product and to obtain feedback from the main market target

I've asked for a sample and tested it. I was really impressed by the result and ordered him 200 g of soap

I bought that stainless box with the 200 g soap

The product exist too with that sort of shuttle. (100g)

That is a soft soap, when i received the sample i was surprise, it's between the cream and the soap.

The smell is fresh and light , it's make with natural essential oil, i don't remember the composition, but that is very light and discrete. As soon as you make the shaving foam, the smell disapear. No interference with the after shave or other.

The soap need a lot of water to make a nice foam, i don't have had any problem to make a nice foam , but some user said they didn't succeed quickly to make foam. They didn't put enough water on their brush

The slide of the blade is very good and smooth , the protection is good for me, some people found that the skin protection was not perfect, but for me it's very good.

The foam stay wet some time but not two hours . If you have a nice foam with enough water, it won't dry at all .

The soap consumption is not bad at all with 10 g i did 12 shave. And i'm sure that with a bigger quantity the number is even higher.

I did two shave video with some of my razor and the sample of soap i've had.

For me it's a really good soap, the price is quite reasonable (more or less 10 euros for 100g (without steel box). And it's made in france with natural product , for a french guy it count a bit

    Thanks for sharing, mate.

How does it stack up against the "other" French artisan soap, the legendary Martin de Candre?

I never used MDC soap but the feed back of most of the tester was that MDC is just a bit better than that one for the skin hydration, for the other part, that is more or less as good as MDC. That is the first shave soap from Cyril (Le père Lucien), he is working on other sort with other perfume and new characteristic to answer to the various feed back

I read the review on "Rasage traditionnel" all 22 pages of it, sounds like this could be a very good shaving soap. The reviews sound very good and the soap has a very light fragrance witch i like a lot. The presentation is superb and the price is right, i almost use Martin De Candre exclusively and sounds like this one is a good contender.
Thanks for posting, be interesting to see some reviews on here about it.

ok so i used this soap. the scent is somewhat similar to the original martin de candre scent. the coloring is an off white similar to mdc. the lathering is really easy and pleasant. the firmness of this soap is different than martin de candre....MDC is a bit harder and this lucien soap is more croap-like. the steel tin seems nice but the lid is a bit tough to put on and off....not a big deal but i have to get my nails under the lid to almost pry it open. i suppose this would be good for travel since the lid stays on easily without becoming ajar. overall i think this is a nice item to add to one's den. the label is nice but i think a waterproof label would be a bit nicer...i just try to keep the lid away from water. i am not sure if i would replace my mdc with this soap...but i wouldnt blame you if you did.
