Today I grated up a puck of almond soap by Sappo Hill, and melted a couple TBSP'S of Now 100% pure Lanolin, mixed them together and put them in a stainless steel bowl with a lid. I refrigerated the mixture for a couple of hrs. I took it out, let it sit for an hour or so,then proceeded to lather it up as if it were a puck of MWF. I just used a VDH badger brush. ( the one that comes in the luxury kit); soaked the brush and soap mixture in hot water for approx. 2 mins; loaded brush for 30 secs with the hot water on top, squeezed it out in my bowl then loaded again with the dry brush for about a minute and half. The results were amazing! I got such a thick, rich lather that I was able to do 3 passes with some still left over. Not only that, but my face felt very moisturized as well....Now im not sure if the results were so good as a result of my low expectations or not, but good results are good results. If this was a puck of soap that I bough at tabula rasa or AOS I would still be just as impressed. I didn't use any aftershave whatsoever by design too see how my face felt afterwards and believe me when I tell you there is not an ounce of dryness to my skin. now I know everybodys skin is different but pound for pound this is by far the best soap I have used. im sure MWF, AOS and the likes work just as well, but I spent less than $2.00 for the puck of soap, and less than $10.00 for a 207ml jar of NOW Lanolin....Sappo Hill comes in almond, aloe, aloe&oatmeal, oatmeal, and unscented....I am in no way an advocate for sappo hill or Now products; just a guy trying to help ou my fellow wetshavers....
