Thanked: 36Trumpers - not great, or just an unfortunate sample?
Quick question for anyone who uses trumpers creams:
I got a sample pack a while back and the lemon and lime cream I got was kind of hard and dry and was very difficult to lather as I found myself chasing a blob of cream around the bottom of the bowl. I wasn't impressed and didn't bother with the rest for a while, but today I decided to use them up rather than leave them in the cupboard or throw them out. (I also had plenty of time and thought maybe I could work out a way around the problem of lather resistant cream.) I tried the coconut flavour which turned out to be much softer and lathered beautifully. Not the best scent I've smelled by a long way, but the lather was awesome.
So my question is are the different scented creams also different consistencies or was I just unlucky to receive a dried out sample?

Sounds like dried out to me. I've had mixed results with Trumper's pucks but cream, if it is soft, is usually a good lather IME.

Trumper's is one of my favorites. I don't use the cream but I've never had issues making great lather from the soap.

Thanked: 36I just found a review that said "The soft texture of the Extract of Limes shaving cream makes it one of the easiest creams to lather" which was the exact opposite of my experience and much more like my experience with the coconut cream, so I'm pretty sure it was dried out. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the samples now.

Thanked: 1195I once received an ENTIRE tub of cream that was completely dried out. It happens sometimes, the stuff doesn't last forever. I actually started a thread asking for opinions on how to rehydrate it, which I dutifully tried but I gave up and decided to just lather it like a soap. And the result? Perfect lather every time

Thanked: 498I use a bunch of Trumpers creams and I had the same issue with my rose cream. It was real hard and clumpy but I soldiered on and finished the tub. The next rose tub was fine. I suspect the hard tub may of had a loose lid during transit. Great stuff that Trumpers.

I am a big fan of Trumpers.. Lathers amazing, doesn't dry down, thick and slick
While I prefer the soap, I have the creams as well.. It should be smooth and creamy.. it gets lumpy if you leave it exposed to the air for too long. If you know you're not going to use if for a while, put a piece of saran wrap over the surface of the cream as an air barrier...---------------------------------------------------

Definitely a bad tub—generally it's as soft as anything and very easy to lather.
I just bought a packet of Valobra cream and was surprised at it's hard texture, as I rarely buy anything other than Trumper's. Still makes great lather, though...it's just a bit weird in the box.

Valobra is a croap... similar to P.160 Tipo Morbido in consistency. More of a putty and easily molded to it's container. I find Valobra to be just barely 'meh...' Uninspiring.
Trumpers is most certainly a cream is really light and smooth with an iridescence to it. Just a tiny dab makes gobs of lather. I still got great lather from the tub that had dried and hardened.. But I opted to bowl lather and found a boar worked better. I mashed it into the bottom of a Bill Bowl and it worked fine.---------------------------------------------------
