Thanked: 3Drawn and Quartered, Gentlemen!
Well today I started in on the last of my stash of Gentlemen's Quarter shaving soaps. Oak and Moss. I'd been savouring this one for a while now, getting experience with other soaps and creams. And now that I have, it's all the sadder, as I can appreciate better than before what fine fine shaving soap this is.
I don't know if Colleen is still around these forums, but I hope you go back into the soap business one day.
Cheers.
Brenton

Thanked: 1195I still have two pucks of TGQ left, Lavender and Sandalwood. Bought them almost 5 years ago and they are still going. The funny thing is the lather was pretty mediocre back then but now it's quite nice. Just like a fine wine, they apparently get better with age lol

Thanked: 603Colleen has been out of the soap-making business for about four years. She recently went through her "stash" of shaving and bath soaps, and has been listing individual pucks/cakes (thus far, shaving soap, only) for sale (auction) on eBay; her username is thegentlemensquarter-soapmistress.
I'm a long-time user of her shaving soap; their lather and lubrication are second-to-none. My favorites are: Leatherneck, Cavendish Black, Desert Ironwood, and Pumpkin (a one-time run, which pairs nicely with a number of after-shave products).
Smooth shaving! You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Thanked: 3Hi Ryan,
At first I couldnt get a number of soaps to lather up, this brand was the worst of them. Then I read somewhere the "load and hydrate, load and hydrate" thing, and I could then get up some decent latherage.
The lubrication this morning was the very slipperiest ever, so i could do the old Gilette scrub on problem areas without paying for it with skin irritation.
JB, thanks for the ebay tip. I'll check that out and see if I can also drop her a line to express mymappreciation!

Good Afternoon Gentlemen
While perusing the world wide web looking for ancient copy regarding "The Gentlemen's Quarter", I happened to come across this thread. Tis true, I've been out of business now for a while, longer than I would have preferred. My plans to return to school worked out well enough, however regular employment seems to evade me. Drum roll for the "stash of soap" born of desperation, along with John Lennon's quote "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".
I wish that my own life were not so chaotic.....but oddly enough the one thing in life that I possess that seems to operate smoothly is a good shaving soap ( thanking the heavens above and wonderful customers ) So Gentlemen.....I didn't really plan to reopen the way it's turning out, but yes.....I do believe that "The Gentlemen's Quarter" will reopen sometime early next year. In the meantime I am selling off vintage stock on ebay as JBHoren so kindly mentioned.
I must note that I have no computer of my own these days, and lost most of product photographs ( long story ) so when I post products for sale on ebay, the picture is usually "Bay Rum" to cover all bases. Some of the soaps are wrapped and labled, but most are not. I also have a nice stash of bath soap for sale as well, just in time for Christmas stocking stuffers! The bath soap will be going on ebay as "buy now" but the shaving soap continues to go up "as auction".
I will be placing more items on ebay towards the end of the week, but will post again in the vendor section to give everyone a heads up.
Yours Truly.....Soapmistress
