I do find Le Père Lucien on par with MdC, and perhaps a little more moisturizing. However, I'm not a big fan of the scent, and would find it boring if I had to shave with it daily. It is a great soap that I will always keep in my rotation, but infrequent enough so as to not tire of the scent.

Le Pere Lucien is the Cat's Pajamas and anyone who hasn't tried it should sit in a corner with a dunce cap on. Scent is a distant second to performance.....this soap loves human flesh, the Zombie soap in the best way possible. I feel sorry for people like Tarkus, those sad late adopters with their 75 containers of soaps and creams....and no LPL!

I like the Le Pere Lucien more than anything I have tried and that includes Martin De candre. They are both top shelf but the Le Pere is a shelf above. The easiest slickest lather I have made

I'm going to give this thread a bump given Obie's wonderful review.

I've had about 5 shaves with the Le Pére Lucien Traditional Scent Shaving Soap, done in the hot scuttle each time to release the incredible full aroma of this soap, and it immediately became apparent that this was an incredible product. Each time I use it, I think I could basically put away all my other soaps and use nothing but this. It lathers so easily, feels and smells incredible on the face, the cushion and glide incredible, the only three soaps I could think to compare it to would be Castle Forbes Lavender, MDC Fougere, and a strong mention of XPEC Original - each a stand out in it's own right, but IMO, this soap stands alone as by far the best I've tried to date.

I have the Patchouli and Rose de Pushkar Le Pére Lucien soaps on the way, and I can only hope they are as nice, but if I had to pick up one soap and run from the Zombie Apocalypse, it would be the Le Pére Lucien Traditional Scent Shaving Soap.
