Homemade Cream
I made some homemade shaving cream today. I didn't measure anything, I kinda just went by feel. Here's what I did:
I grated 3/4 of an Ivory soap bar and melted it on the stove. I mixed in some Ivory body wash and some cocoa butter lotion. Stirred it and put it in the fridge for 3 hrs. When I took it out, it looked a little too stiff, so I added some almond oil, until I got the consistency of whipped butter. I picked up some lavender essential oil, ( I really wanted bay rum or sandalwood, but they didnt have it). I put 30 or so drops into the cream, then put into a mason jar.
I just finished shaving with it, it was pretty good. It lathered up nice and thick, but it started getting runny after repeated rinsing of my de in the sink, and the parts that didn't get runny started to thin out.
Has anyone else experimented along these lines, and if so, how were your results?

I'm usually the kind o guy who makes everything from scratch- but in this case I have always dealt that taking a basic unscented cream and adding what you like will yield the best 'custom' home made results..
For example: buy basic unscented cream- Add you choice blend of eo's or scent oils, then add whatever else floats your boat- coco butter, Shea butter, aloe, vitamin e... Etc etc...
IMO you will have great results that meets your personal tastes... I get the whole cooking it on the stove thing too though.... I love Any chance I get to tinker around like that .......... Making Old Razors Shine N' Shave, Once Again.
