Thanked: 603It is not easy, becoming and remaining a successful and profitable cottage industry in the US. I remember corresponding with (the late) Sue Moore -- proprietress of St. Charles Shave -- about the effect of (then) new FDA regulations for corporate-sized "beauty-aid" manufacturers, which were also going to be required of small family-sized and cottage industries. Similarly, Colleen Hurley -- soapmistress of The Gentlemen's Quarter shaving products -- had to discontinue the Leatherneck family of products because one of the common, essential ingredients, was only going to be sold in 25-gallon containers... with a commensurately unaffordable price. Charles -- proprietor of QED shaving products has also had to remove a large number of once-popular items from his product line, due to the disproportionate increases in the cost of aromatic components. So, Mama Bear is closing at year's end... sad, but not at all surprising.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Man, that just... bites!
I wish them all the best. Perhaps we should all place our orders for a great x-mas for both them and us!!Last edited by earcutter; 11-13-2013 at 07:23 AM.

Seems like it's still fresh and maybe she doesn't know exactly how to work with Amazon. Here is her last post:
"I am going to try and get someone to help me with phone calls to Amazon and get set up there.. I will keep working in the meanwhile but this may be a good way to go if they do the shipping.. I am so sorry about all of this.. my heart is breaking"

I'm sorry to hear that...never had the chance to try the soap.
Maybe what she's trying to say is that she will stop making soaps but sell the ones she already made via Amazon until she runs out of products.

Mama Bear's Closing Shop :(
One of the best soap products out there IMO. I hope they can dirt out the troubles. In the mean time I may need to get my hands on some of the 'good stuff'
