Thread: What is the primary source of lather?

I have been fooling around making homemade shaving soap. I just have not been satisfied with the "loft" or body of my results. There must be a primary cause or interaction that makes actual lather. Any help is really appreciated and needed.

If your using primarily olive oil, coconut oil, etc. they're not given to making much lather. Tallow is one of the preferred ingredients.
