    Default Barbus Classic shave soap

First I would like to thank member Glow for gifting me a tub of Barbus Classic.

The Barbus came in a cardboard box inside of which was a blue plastic tub similar to Proraso/Wilkinson soaps but with a screw top lid which was a nice touch. The consistency is also similar to Proraso/Wilkinson soaps and has a nice pleasnt non offensive scent. Don't ask what the scent smells like, I am not good at describing scents. I think it is a non tallow soap if I read the contents correctly.

I was eager to try it out so I face lathered it with my synthetic silver tip Muhle brush using cold water. The reward was a nice slick lather that allowed a comfortable and close 4 pass shave using an old Gillette Open Comb DE with new Israeli Personna blade installed. The aftermath is a face that is not glowing red from irritation and no cuts or weepers only BBS. I think that was a pretty good test and first impression is that it is a good shave soap that I would not hesitate to use again.

I gotta say that I used it again this morning and it was even better. The Barbus was delivered on a day with the morning temps at around -15C mark so it was likely partially frozen the first time I tried it. Anyway, I think it's another very decent option for anyone looking to try a new soap out.

Well, you convinced me. I have and order in for both Barbus and Figaro. I can't wait until they show up, from Estonia.

    Hey Razorfeld,

The Barbus soap is only made in Slovakia, an Eastern European country, the Czech Republic has them aswell. I saw a few websites in the US selling them for $12 with the shipping, and most of the time "out of stock". The only time I heard of someone having Barbus in the States or Canada is if someone gifts it to them. If you want we can work out a trade, I could send you a tub of Barbus if you'd like Let me know in PM. Thank you.
