    Default Early Christmas Gift

Received a nice early Christmas gift, 5 boxes of shaving soap and a Kent BL 2 Badger Brush!!

D.R. Harris Almond in Mahogany Bowl
D.R Harris Arlington in Mahogany Bowl
D.R Harris Marlborough in Mahogany Bowl
D.R Harris Windsor in Mahogany Bowl
Tabac Shaving Soap in Glass Bowl

Tried the Windsor the other day and it was really a great soap, it dried out a little towards the end, but that was first time using it, so will know a little more water next time. Was similar in feel to MWF, very robust lather and the scent was classic British. In the way Proraso evokes the Italian barber the Windsor soap, for me, made me feel like I should put on a three piece suit and head to my club afterwards...really nice stuff/

Really liked the Kent brush as well, much stiffer in the middle, could really work the lather into the beard, felt great.

Later today, will finally try the Tabac which I've heard so much about...can't believe I now suddenly have 11 different types of shaving soap! Of course received the appropriate comments from the wife, got the eye roll, followed by her saying I'm turning into a English Dandy...I blame the Windsor soap!! I figure I have enough soap now to shave for the next 25-30 years....sheesh!

But really like the Harris soap!!

No shortage of Harris this year (and now for many years to come), that's for sure lol

I own a few of those myself and have sampled the rest. The Windsor is nice, though I can't really describe what it smells like. As for performance you're correct, like any soap (especially hard soaps) it will likely take a few lathering sessions before you find the sweet spot.

Thanks Ryan82 - yes, the Windsor, a truly British shaving experience, guess that's the best way to describe what it smells like!! Closest I could describe it is it almost smells like a museum ????

Also tried the Tabac earlier, guess that's another hard soap. The Tabac seemed to dry out a little quicken even than the Harris...much different than the Proraso, which seems to be a bit of spit and you're ready to go.

Tried a one pass WTG shave with the Tabac using my W&B 5/8 wedge...sheesh...could actually start to hear the low feedback of the blade, and one thing about wedges I seem to be discovering, nothing will be left standing in their path!!! One pass with the wedge was actually a total DFS++...getting to know the wedge is getting interesting!

The Tabac though was very, very nice...can see why it's usually on people's favorite list....
