Currently I have 4 soaps and 1 cream, so 5 in total. Relatively few but it will increase with time. It wasn't very long since I started to SR shave.
I have about 15 soaps and creams. But most of them haven't worked out so I melted about 6 of them into a couple of bowls and see how they go. About 5 of them are part of my uber lather that changes slightly every time I use it. That leave about 4 that I haven't decided on. I am working it down to a set uber lather that will do for any shave, any brush, any razor. I am expanding on pre shaves at his time and have 5 going and looking to add several more before thinning those out also.
I probably have a dozen or so hard soaps. No creams though I do like some of them. Just too cheap to buy any more. I basically use MWF or Williams most of the time and the others just sit until I run out of the aforementioned.
I have around 30 soaps, creams and shave sticks to choose from.
Bob
I keep about 6 on my shelf. There are a far greater number that I have never tried. So far, nothing has beaten the performance of MWF on my face where it matters most. Watch out for possible irritation by menthol and strong scents.
I have a lot. Some of my fav's are: Castle Forbes, Truefitt and Hill, Tobs, Xpec, and Domenico Caraceni (no longer available)
Some of my favorite soaps are: SRD, MWF, Tabac, DR Harris, TOBS, P160 and of course Martin De Candre.
I have 6 pucks and 2 samples of Al's cream left. I love Al's but I don't take the time for whipping up cream very often. If I popped for a proper bowl or scuttle for it I might do it more often. I just haven't gone there yet. I have 2 new Mama Bear's pucks open. Ylang Ylang , and Dragon's blood with Northwoods in waiting. (maybe New Years) I have 4 artisan soaps. 2 from Dirty Deeds ( cool water and a balsam cedarwood.) 2 from Puur called Sheriff and Blacksmith. Being used to Mama Bear's the other 4 are hard for me too talk myself into. Mainly because I have been trying to get the same lather out of them. I am finding that they can be close if I load more onto the brush and use more water. Most of this is recent because I just used up a puck of MB's Patchouli that lasted a year. I have been wise in my choice of scents because I love them all except for 2 of Al's which had a strong nutmeg (or something) smell to them.
There you have it. My soap inventory and history/ review. Sorry, I am just starting to get wound up about soaps :<0)
Gentlemen,
I rotate around 30 soaps and creams, mostly soaps. My preferred are as follows:
Soaps: Martin de Candre, Savon Le Pere Lucien, D.R. Harris range, Valobra fougere, The Art of Shaving sandalwood (the old version), Trumper rose, Trumper sandalwood and Joris.

A lot, 15 + and just got 6 more yesterday.
I usually shave with one for a few days to a week.
I honestly don't know the exact number anymore.
All I can say at this stage is somewhere between 80 and 100.
Favorites are, amongst others, Castle Forbes, Domenico Caraceni, Xpec, Martin de Candre, SRD Bulgarian Rose Otto, Irisch Moos and MWF

I must have more than 20 soaps and creams by now in rotation, all of them popular brands discussed here (T&H, Tabac, MWF, Harris, MdC, etc). I use them all regularly with the exception of Williams. I've also sampled many more.
I can get it to lather and work to the best of its abilities, but quite honestly it just doesn't measure up whatsoever to other heavy hitters in my rotation. I might use it a handful of times per year. I'm not even sure why I keep it around TBH - nostalgia and the scent, I suppose?
Only one: Nancy Boy (signature scent)
After trying many I've decided to make this one my scent, and really happy with the performance.
Classic shaving brand.........currently have the four Christmas scents and one puck of lilac. It's cheap and lathers great no BS. Bentonite clay based. The scents are not artificial smelling.Excellent glide. No irritation.
I have got to stop reading these soap and cream threads. Just ordered Valobra Patchouli hard shave soap puck, should remind me of the hippy dippy 60s in high school. So you can ad another to an already too long rotation.
Bob
Bob,
Good show. This new puck version of Valobra is really impressive. The old The Art of Shaving soap was made by Valobra, and that's why I have always been fond of it. By the way, the patchouli scent in Valobra is relatively mild, unlike the old Hippy-days' version of patchouli.
Thank you Obie for the news of the scent strength being a bit tamer. That is probably good news along with your opinion of the new puck version being impressive.
Bob
Thank you, Bob. The fragrance of patchouli is still strong in my senses from the old San Francisco days. My wife and I lived there during the 1960s, when patchouli was part of the city's air. Ah, yes, those were exciting times in San Francisco. Anyway, Bob, I am really impressed by the soap's overall quality. Really good stuff.
I have around 30 soaps/creams but my very favourite is Mike's Barber shop.
I have lost count of my soaps and creams. However, about a year ago, I estimated that I had enough soap to last over 10 years and I have obtained more since then. Remember, nothing exceeds like excess. You need every single one of each and every soap and cream you come across. In fact you need a minimum of three of each brand:beer1:
I dont have that many... Cella and razorock classic are my favorite! Love the almond scent and Cella is just great! Nough said! I also have mama bear amaretto! I have to say... Wow for a cheap soap! I like it alot! Jack black samples! Many of them! I have to say! I would never buy this soap/cream brand! Too expensive and it doesnt match cheaper better brands in my opinion! SRD lavender! I like it ... But i like it more for summer days! It has a nice fresh feel and clean fresh scent... Those are in my rotation at the moment
I have about 10 different soaps/creams in my rotation, but I find myself reaching for Cella and MDC more often than the rest. I love the scent of both and they are just so easy to lather up and work really well. I have others that work the same, but the scents aren't the same. I don't like reading posts like this cause every time I do I always wind up buying soaps and creams that I haven't tried yet that others mention. Fortunately I have been able to control myself some lately. Some:o
I have 10 soaps and 4 creams in rotation. I also have 2 new soaps and 5 new creams that have yet to be put in rotation.
I try to keep my numbers down, but for some reason my shave soaps/creams breed like rabbits.
Soaps right now.. I have mamma bears sandalwood vanilla and a few other scents.. Mdc .. And some green mountain is on its way along with some p 160.. Creams I have maca root body shop.. Co Bigelow. And some set james of London left.. Not many but probably enough to last me the next year.. I have about 100s of others I wanna try.. But for the money try mamma bears..
I see soap acquistion can become pathological. I am holding at four in the order - two in the dugout, one at bat and a sometime pinch hitter. I refuse to try another until one runs out.
Fitjar Lighthouse Bay Rum (about spent - gonna miss that sucker) at bat
Some old mystery stuff pinch hitting, about 1/3 puck left
Mitchell's WF & Cella in the dugout.
Let's see
Soaps:
L'Occitane
D.R Harris Windsor
Mikes Natrual soaps Cedar & Pine also Vetiver
FitJar Fjellheim (just got the Fitjar)
C & E Nomad (love the scent, not to keen on the performance)
Sticks:
Speick
La 'toja
PalmOlive
Creams:
RSC
Proraso Red
Bold font are my favorites so far.......
MWF, Tabac, Petal Pushers Fancies, SRD and Colonel Conk.
Less then 10% of us only use one soap. I've been happy with Colonel Conk so haven't really tried others.
I currently have 4 different kinds of soap in my rotation. MWF, Klar, Proraso, & Geo F. Trumper. No creams though, I got out of them when I discovered soap pucks. :)
One. If I find one I don't like I toss it. Life is to short. If I have one I like why should I change?
