Aquagena Scheerstick
(Aquagena Shaving Stick)

Producer: Laboratoires Ed. Fromont, Brussels, Belgium

Type: Shaving Stick.

INCI (List of Ingredients): triethanolamine, fatty acid, C14-18, glycerin, ricinus communis oil, aqua, alcohol, cocos nucifera oil, sodium C9-22 alkyl sec sulfonate, adeps bovis, fatty acid, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd, sodium hydroxide, fragrance, diethyle phtalate

It is very unusual to see triethanolamine to the top of the ingredient list as well as not being an ingredient I like in shaving soaps. Others ingredients I do not like are sodium C9-22 alkyl sec sulfonate, C14-18, C16-18 and diethyle phtalate. Score: 5

Pakage: Plastic tube containing a transparent dark orange stick, quite hard to open and you need to pull quite hard. Score: 6

Quantity: 125g (4.4oz)

Smell: Citrus fruits aroma, Score: 8

Lather: Easy to apply, you can tell it has quite a lot of fatty substances. It easily makes an abundant lather, although it however takes quite a lot of water in order to give a satisfactory result. The lather is very stable and long lasting, with a good retention of water, creamy and fatty. Score: 9

Shaving: The razor easily slides and you can tell this is a quite fatty soap. It in fact contains tallow and glycerin, as well as coconut and castor oil, these two latter ones being quite good lather maker. No sign of dried lather. The sensation on the skin is good, just a couple of signs of irritation although it seems to leave a slightly dry skin at the end of the shave, Score: 8

Conclusion: A quite good soap but not my favorite one. Besides the list of ingredients, what I do not like is the sensation of dryness it leaves to the skin, the moisturizing effect does not seem to be its best quality. The shave is however comfortable, the razor can easily slide, the lather has a fatty and creamy consistency, very stable and durable, Score: 6
