Thanked: 1T.O.B.S lavender?
Has anyone used lavender tobs? If so how strong is the smell, and how well does it lather? I like to shave at night sometimes and think lavender would be nice before bed. But not if it's a strong perfume Smell. If that makes any sense.

I used some a couple of days ago, I wouldn't say it's overpowering, but I'm not crazy about the actual smell itself.... YMMV

I got a TOBS cream sample pack recently with the lavender included and have used the lavender 1/2 a dozen times
IMHO None of the TOBS sents are over the top and all smell great & have lathered easy with normal tap water
Must admit they were not keeping the lather in the badger as long in the harder water whilst away interstate for Xmas but I was also purely doing face lather only no bowl & I took no others to compare tooSaved,
to shave another day.

It lathers fine but the smell isnt all that great and it didnt seem to last very long. I like a smell thats gonna last awhile. I doubt I every buy it again.

I agree the scent only seems to last while shaving
But I don't notice anything after I use the alum block when I finish with any of the soaps or creams I have
Are they meant to linger longer
Maybe just my bad sense of smell, I might have to do some testing with SWMBO as she has a lot better snifferSaved,
to shave another day.

Thanked: 60I love the stuff, and it's really is great for a relaxing shave before bed.
It's a nice smell and not at all overpowering. The smell doesn't last very long, just long enough to drift of to sleep. Its a great cream that lathers really well, and it's not drying at all. It's a keeper for me. I really love the stuff, in fact I gave a tub to a mate for Christmas and he initially said thanks but I could see he was thinking WTF. Now he raves about it…lol

Kiel,
Most lavender scented soaps I have tried have been subtle in their fragrance. Just enough fragrance to pamper the nose. That includes the Taylor of Old Bond Street lavender soap that I tried many years ago.

Hi Kiel,
I like TOBS, I have six shaving creams, Almond, Avocado, Jermyn Street, Lavender, Lemon & lime, and Rose. All good shaving creams. Here is the order I would rank the ones I have:
Jermyn Street (unique smell, very calming. My favorite)
Avocado (very pleasant, not what you would expect from avocado)
Almond (it's almond...got to love it)
Lemon & Lime (great critrusy aromas, I like this in the summer)
Rose (flowery but not too overwhelming)
Lavender (it's OK but very strong)
If you really like the smell of lavender then you should be OK with TOBS lavender. If, on the other hand, you're looking for something flowery but subtle then I would go with the Rose. If you're looking for something calming maybe try Jermyn Street.
Hope this helps,

A man should only look in the mirror when he shaves.
