Thanked: 3225Valobra Patchouly puck first impression
This tallow base puck of shaving soap came in the mail this morning. Just did a 3 pass test shave with it, couldn't resist trying it. It loaded easily on the Muhle XL synthetic silver tip brush and I would expect a boar or badger would work just as well. Easily built a rich and slick lather face lathering. The 4/8 blade glided easily over the face removing what little stubble there was. All in all a very comfortable shave. I much prefer the patchouli scent which is pleasant and not over bearing to the scent of the other Italian shaving soaps I have. I think this Valobra will go to the head of my Italian shaving soap group ahead of Cella, Proraso Green and Red and Vitos Red. If you want to try an Italian tallow based soap don't give this one a miss.

Thanked: 1184There you go , taking me back to the 60's again. And you cheated using the under rated 4/8 blade :<0) Thanks for the review. Now If I can remember this when I finally get around to replacing my long gone favorite scent :<0(
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Bob,
Right you are about the Valobra patchouli. I have the soap and agree with you that it is excellent. It shows the same characteristics of the old version of The Art of Shaving soap, which I understand was made by Valobra. Both good stuff.

Thanked: 3225Pups
I detest the 4/8 blade size, probably because I find them harder to strop not for their ability to give a fine shave which they do. Overlooked and under rated they are.
