    Default I Coloniali shaving soap/cream

    Hi gents,

Just wondered how many of you own/have used the above product. It's made by J&E Atkinsons, which I think is a British company.

I've read good things about it and so on, but if you have tried it or own it, would really like to hear your thoughts on it, specifically how thick the lather is, how it compares to other soaps (or creams) that you own/have used, how slick it is and most importantly how moisturising it is for your face. What aftershaves and/or balms do you pair it with?

Really appreciate your input on this one. Thanks!

This is a coincidence. Today I received my I Coloni shaving soap. It looks just like the picture! So naturally I had to go and have a shave. First, it comes in a very nice terracotta bowl which will look good in your shave den. The soap itself is pink in colour and is a hard soap (although it's described on the box as a cream) but not too much so. It does have a strong scent to it which seems woody/flowery to my nose even though it's supposed to have mango in it. Some might call it "perfumy". Now this scent may die down over the coming days and weeks but if you don't want a strong smell in your shaving soap then it might not be for you. The smell is very pleasant but a bit "girly". As the scent is so strong you will have to carefully consider your aftershave's scent. As to shaving, you will need to give it a good soak and a good load up, especially as it is new but it does yield a very nice creamy lather that will give you enough for a 3 pass shave. Nice feel on the face and good glide and cushioning. It will probably get better as the puck breaks in and I get the water/soap ratio worked out. I think it is tallow based. I have no complaints about this product and so I encourage you to try it out. These, of course, are only my first impressions.

    Cheers

You also asked about moisturizing and aftershaves for this product. Well it's very slick I would say and definitely not drying to my skin. My skin feels good after my shave but then my skin is not dry naturally. I can't speak to aftershaves here too much. In the same shipment I received a bottle of Floid Black. Now this AS has a very nice scent on it's own but it's not the best with I Coloni, I think. As I Coloni is so strongly scented it clashes with this soap. I'm at a loss to tell you what to do here. Finally, this product is made in Italy.

Hey bud!! I have been using this for a few years now and It's a great soap. I always uber with it but love the "tingle". Very smokey mango. good lather, glide and lubricity. makes a nice firm lather that reminds me of meringue.
