Well, stearic acid can be derived from tallow, but also vegetable oil, coconut oil, etc.. Google stearic acid.
If you look at this post, he has an image from the MdC site that lists vegetal oil in the first paragraph. So, based on this, I'd say no tallow. http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...c-website.html

Thanked: 3225When the first ingredient listed on the jar of MdC is stearic acid it is hard to tell the origin of the stearic acid. In the link you just have to believe the manufacturer as to the origin of the stearic acid they use. In any even it really does not matter much, unless there is an ethical or religious conflict, as this product performs very well.
