I have hard water and I now add a couple of large pinches of food grade citric acid to the wash basin to bring the ph nearer to neutral. No problems with any of my soaps or creams since I started to do this.

Jeez Anthony, I had forgotten about your little trick with the citric acid. I gotta mark that down somewhere but then again I'd probably forget where I put that when I needed it.
