Default Why no cream with my shaving soap?

    Hi Guys:

I've got two very good quality shaving soaps: QED Lime and Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad. I also use a pure badger brush.

No matter what I try, I don't seem to get a creamy lather. I get a lot of soap lathered up but it's diluted. I've tried some or no water poured directly into the soap container. I've tried just a wet brush with a lot of swirling within the dish but still no thick and creamy lather. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Sure-fire way:
    1) Soak the brush with piping hot water.
    2) Pour hot water into the soap container
    3) Let the brush sit in the container with the soap and water for about 2 min
    4) Pour out the water
    5) Shake out the brush and run it under hot water again
    6) Lather up.

If your trying to get cream from a soap you might be dissapointed. All your trying to achieve is a smooth shave. It may not lather the way you expect it to. If it applies thickly enough that you can't see through it, you may have already achieved your goal.

If you've got hard water, you might want to try using distilled water for working up your shaving soap.

Just to be extra specific... Use DISTILLED water. Bottled water is worse for shaving lather than anything that can come out of your tap, due to its mineral content.
