L'Occitane Shaving Soap Inquiry
Decided to buy the puck because I already owned the stainless steel bowl for quite some time. I liked the scent of their cream, so I thought why not?
Umm.. Is it un-scented? I don't believe I have a cold or anything, but it could hardly detect a scent.
So I have done some reading and some people say that its scent strengthens after a few uses.. Is that the case?
What's bothering me is that now it's stuck to its bowl, which I used to use as a scuttle and was very happy with. I don't mind getting rid of the soap later but fear it will in the meantime oxidize the bowl because now I won't be able to wash/dry it like I used to.

Thanked: 3226If it is the same stuff I have the scent is not overly strong and sort of woodsie, never used their cream. If the bowl is stainless I wouldn't worry too much. If it is in there good and proper chances are it has sealed itself and there is little oxygen getting in to cause oxidation/rust.

Thanked: 4827I also have that soap. I stuck mine to the bowl intentionally. The scent is almost non existent for sure. It shaves ok, I'm not over the moon for it but it is not on my never buy again list. My only issue is that it leaves my skin kind of grippy and interferes with a water only touch up afterwards, I don't do that for every shave so for the most part it's fine.

So nothing exciting about scent, performance not to write home about and you would still buy again? :/
After MdC, LPL, MWF, Tabac, Proraso, T&H I did mistake of getting this today shaved alright but absence of scent took me by shock. The tub cream smelled wonderful. Sad..
I posted here because some people said that after a few days/uses the scent blossoms. I hope?

Thanked: 4827Perhaps I didn't state the performance accurately. It is good shaving it is the grippy after part that takes it off my favorites list. I have used and have a lot of different soaps, anything that I would never ever buy again is relegated to the shower and never shaved with past the first time. Some soaps have great scents and poor performance, those get kicked out of the shave line up right away. That one has never had a scent blossom for me, and I'm ok with that because the performance while not perfect is acceptable.

I noticed that I tend to load soaps very lightly. Maybe I should put on more and see

Thanked: 1195The scent is subtle for sure but I can detect it without a problem. IIRC the main note in Cade is juniper. It's a pleasant scent, at least to my nose.
IMO L'Occitane is very much underrated and doesn't get the love that it deserves. The performance is good, it lathers easily and leaves my skin feeling nice. I suppose its only downfall is the boring yet pleasant scent.
BTW ffarouki, by all means try loading your brush a bit longer, I think you'll like the (better) results.
