Thanked: 0Am I the only one?
Am I the only one who does this? Whenever I shave, I used my finger to wipe the lather away from my razor and I either put it back on my brush or in my shaving bowl. No matter what type of soap or cream, the lather collected on the razor always seems a lot thicker and more protective for a third pass against the beard's grain. The only apparent downside is that I have to wash my face well to prevent the shaved hairs from staying on my face, but that's totally fine with me.
Do any of you do this or have tried it, or am I just a weird duck?

I'm not sure I could do this because of the extra gunk that comes off my face onto the blade. It doesn't just cut hairs, it exfoliates the top layer of skin, which is clearly visible on the blade as I shave.
Either I'm just a dirty dirty guy or it's from all the stuff I put on during the day and before the shave (moisturisers, Skin Food, Proraso...).

I use fresh lather for the pre-shave and the first 2 passes and just water for #3.

Thanked: 346I don't do that, but sometimes if I need to buff a spot I will flip the blade around and spatula the lather back on and shave it again. I always assumed everybody did that sort of thing, since it's so easy to do with a straight - with a DE you have to grab the brush again to relather, so when I shaved with a DE I had the brush in one hand and the razor in the other.

Thanked: 9I sometimes do what Michael describes but generally prefer fresh lather or just adding water - and this is only for touch-ups, when everything has been reduced already.
I don't shave too often and get mucho hairs and other stuff on the blade - so I prefer to wipe it and NOT add it to the brush / lather
Cheers
Ivo
ps lather dries with time so this is why you may find the 3rd pass gets thicker lather

Another tip.. For smoother glide, wet the face without rinsing the soap residue off before re-lathering.

I always have more clean lather than I need. Why use used lather?

Duck, did someone mention Ducks?
I usually have so much lather I could shave a Marine Platoon so I just keep lathering up with fresh stuff. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
