    Default Alum Bloc

I basicaly do the same, an alum rub all over the face. Even if there are no nicks, it really tones the skin. Splash on Thayers. Great stuff. Any one of they're brand names.

    Following the shave:
    -hot water rinse
    -cold water splash
    -alum block
    -cold water splash
    -pat dry
    -GFT's Coral Skin Food

If I'm applying a balm, I skip the alum. Even a small residual of the alum denatures my T&H Classic Balm. I've heard that this is a common reaction with most (possibly all) balms.

    Just another data point,
    Ed

After alum try WH and eliminate the rinse and the pat dry, Let it try naturally and then apply the coral or a balm. Great Finish to the Shave. also great for the skin
