Thanked: 0Edwin Jagger Soaps and Creams???
Hi Everyone,
Id like to thank everyone that help me out on my last post on where to get a good razor for a decent price. I am currently waiting for a sight unseen razor and poor man strop kit from Whipped Dog that should be here any day. Im out working away from home and i keep asking my wife everyday if anything has shown up. But to get back to my current post.
I have been DE shaving for the last 6 months and have tried a few different soaps and creams. TOBS Jemlyn street soap, MWF, Proraso white Soap, Proraso green cream, Edwin Jagger aloe soap, and Edwin Jagger sandalwood cream.
I find that i love all my soaps and creams except for the Edwin Jagger brand ones. They just dont seem to have the slickness or cushion that the other products i have do. Im just wondering if other people feel the same way or if i just dont have the lather making down with Edwin Jagger products?

I agree with the EJ soap being difficult. I went though a sandalwood puck last year and ended up mixing it with TOBS grapefruit cream to get a nice result. In the end, I did figure out how to lather it properly, but there are way better and easier soaps out there to bother. I still have two pucks (SeaBuckthorn and Limes&Pomegranate) and plan on mixing them with the same TOBS cream which, I feel, lacks slickness by itself.

Thanked: 3225Glad I am not the only one who found EJ soaps to be difficult. Bought a couple of pucks last year, sea buckhorn I think, but wound up giving then away. Just not worth the hassle to lather it for me. Told a buddy I was going to pitch it but he cold try it if he liked. Turns out my buddy was also not very impressed with it either.

Thanked: 129EJ soaps are just ok, try loading the brush for a little longer. Their creams however are pretty decent, but I still feel there are better ones out there.

I have the EJ SeaBuckthorn hard soap, it was my first hard soap when I started a year ago
Used it exclusively for the first month or so, now it is still in rotation with my TOBS Jermyn st cream, razor rock classic soap cream, the good oil (a hemp oil) soap stick, and the remains of a TOBS sampler pack.
I actually don't mind it and always get good lathers from it.
I just load a brush worth of hot water on it (now a divot in the top of it from use), while I shower while the brush is soaking also,
Using a near dry brush I build the sap on it absorbing the water and soap while swirling,
Then proceed to the bowl like my creams with no problem
I still have less than 1/4 of the puck left and was actually looking to get some more but i think the seabuckthorn maybe discontinuedLast edited by Substance; 07-04-2014 at 01:00 AM.

Thanked: 0I use the same process to load the brush, and I am able to make a nice lather with the cream and the soap. But when I am shaving it just doesn't seem to perform for me as well as the other brands I have. I will probably give them away to my friends and try and introduce them to wet shaving. I've converted 2 guys already. I'm glad to hear that it's not just me that isn't thrilled with it EJ.
