I've never used the others, but I'm amazed at how well Arko lathers on my face. Whips right up!

    Hey Siguy,
Yes, the brush. I first rub the soap on my wet face. Then I start with a soaked damp brush, basically loading the brush on my soap-covered face. Then, I dribble more water into the brush, a little at a time, until my face is lathered and the brush has enough lather for another pass or two.

Exactly and that is what got me to try them in the first place. No leaking, no fuss no muss and compact too. Well the Tabac is not all that compact as it is 100g not the usual 50g and comes in a nice twist up container.

Yep, they rock for traveling, especially when you put them in a twist up tube. During our recent move, I only kept out my stick of Arko, a VDH boar brush, my Gentleman John alum block and a travel bottle filled with Master's Bay Rum, then rotated out a Genco 7 pyramid and a Kissing Cranes razor that Bigspendur graciously offered as a prize in a contest. I also kept out my SRD Black Latigo strop.

All my gear was packed for a couple of weeks, and most still is. Still, I enjoyed the utility, as well as the normal performance, of having the Arko. I could shave and throw everything (except the strop) back into a dop once dry. It was pretty great!

    Hey deepweeds, thank you!
I finally tried a couple different stick with some knowledge gained here. I shower shaved for years with a Schick as a working man and used the bar of soap as you do a stick. No brush though, just rubbed it in by hand
I did order a few stick tubes to repackage some of my favorites.
    thanks again!

My go-to is Arko but I've actually been using a "chunk" of MWF and Strop Shoppe as a make-shift shave stick. I just grab the chunk of soap and use it as I would any other shave stick by rubbing it on my wet face and then lathering it up with the brush.

I did that on a trip earlier this year with Arko; though at the sink rather than the shower. I found that it never lathered up enough for my liking (what a surprise for Arko) - perhaps it was too dry without a damp brush. I've now a spare boar brush for travel.

Yea, liberally rub Arko onto your wet face and start to lather with a "damp" brush adding water by dipping just the tips as needed to build the lather. Wet you face before each pass and you can even rub a little more Arko on then too if you like. Lathers well that way for me with boar, badger or synthetic brushes.
