I haven't ever tried the AOS creams, and I'm not much of a scent guy in general, but I definitely like the Proraso sandalwood soap. Very nice stuff that- cheap too.

Thanked: 1Greetings tedh,
Could you estimate how many shaves you got out of that? I'm coming back to the US before too long and would like to stock up before coming back overseas for another year and a half to two years. I'm a newbie and don't want to bring back more than I need, but don't want to runout either.
Thanks!

Thanked: 1Nice, thanks Obie. How about soaps? Do any of you use soaps? How long do they last?

Thanked: 498While I have enough soaps/creams in use or in reserves to last 15 years easy, I still would always have to restock my A.O.S. lemon cream no matter how much other stuff I have. The cream is so nice in its performance and scent, I don't even care that its a little more spendy then others.

Soaps will last a long time, some longer than others, and in my experience, they last longer than creams. The new The Art of Shaving soaps don't impress me. The older formulas, however, are excellent — if you can find them.
You have a big choice of quality soaps, I might add: Martin de Candre, Czech & Speake, Valobra, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Institute Karite, Province Sante, D.R. Harris range, Klar Seifen, Klar Kabinette, Le Pere Lucien, and the list goes on.

Shaving soaps....yes....SAD, never thought that one would hit me, but it has...technically, if I was to use all the soaps and creams I currently have, I think I'd be ready to buy my next product in about 50 years....and after I was finished with those, would have about another 25 years to go to finally finish off the two jars of MDC, the jars of which, regardless of how many samples and uses, never seem to diminish.

Brother - I feel you!! That sandalwood was the first cream I ever owned and how I love it. My wife does too...
Anyway since then, I went a little hog wild and bought every cream I could find!! Love my creams! Alas I vowed I wouldn't buy another cream until I used everything I had after my C&F dried up as hard as a puck. But I missed my Art of Shaving Sandalwood when it died .
Clearly so did my wife! She even asked about it! When I told her the deal - she uh-huhed me. I had a new one in my den about a week later lol! Clearly she really likes it when I use it lol!David

Thanked: 49Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I was camping this weekend with no WiFi and minimal cell service. I think Obie is probably spot on. I used my tub for the first time about June 2nd and just used it up recently. I can't say how many times I used it as opposed to my other creams, but it was definitely my most used cream. I typically swirl my brush in the tub rather than removing a dollop and placing in the mug, scuttle or on the brush; so I may use more than the almond size dollop most say is appropriate.

The sandalwood was the first AOS cream I tried. AOS creams have excellent scents and lather well. However, I too used up my tub, but I moved on to other creams and soaps. I have a large stash myself. There are way too many great products out there, especially cheaper ones that provide equal or better performance.
