Thanked: 3228There was some talk a year or so ago on various forums about RR XXX being a take off on Aqua Di Parma. I believe XXX was discontinued and then re released in a new version. Might be worth checking the ingredients list of the two. The Italianbarber site describes XXX scent this way "Scent: Fresh and clean; a cross between a classic Italian colonia and an old-school barbershop!" .

Razor Rock soaps, haven't tried those yet.
For me, I really like Tabac, but I can see where some may not like it, where the scent can be off putting....the ADP IMO, is like an incredibly scaled up version, very clean, very crisp, incredibly rich lather, you really only need to touch the tip of your brush once in the cream and you've got a 3 pass shave, and the scent is very refined, reminiscent of Tabac, but the only phrase that came to mind on my first impression was, "the way Tabac could have smelled"....but then again, I'm no connoisseur of scents or soaps in any way, these are just my impressions.

Just shaved with MDC and still amazed at how much lather comes from a few swirls of the brush, but I can't really name a favorite since I like all my soaps otherwise they wouldn't be there. Some I like the scents better than others and some I might have to load alittle more, but they cost alot less than the ones I don't. Either way posts like this just show me soaps that I haven't tried that people like and make me buy to atleast try it. Far to many fantastic soaps out there with too few whiskers to shave during the day.

It's a tie between Barrister & Mann and MdC.
After trying countless soaps over past 5 years, those are 2 brands I will ALWAYS have in my rotation.John

Thanked: 2Not too much experience here but found some Col. Konks lime and red Proraso to be a good rich lather and feels great during the shave.

Today's favorite is the same as last years favorite, the year before that, and the year before that ... Mitchell's Wool Fat. Typically understated British elegance. Sheer perfection, in my opinion!
Tied for a close second are the now defunct Klar Kabinett, and the pedestrian Palmolive Shave Stick remilled to a bowl. I could stay with these three forever!

Thanked: 603Although I've got a dozen tubs of QED shaving soaps, my heart belongs to the "Soapmistress" and her line of TGQ (The Gentlemen's Quarter) shaving soaps. Sadly, the TGQ products are not being manufactured at this time; fortunately, I got stash while the getting was good. So, I tend to lather-up with TGQ "Leatherneck", "Cavendish Black", "Pumpkin", "Desert Ironwood", "Gentlemen's Whiskey", or "Lemon Verbena" and, of these, it's "Leatherneck" and "Cavendish Black" that I generally grab (it helps that I've also got the matching Cologne Extrait for these two shaving soaps, so I can have a "complete" TGQ shaving experience).

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
