    Default Mama Bear sopa samples

So I received my samples this week and got a chance to try one out last night. I had some trouble lathering the small sample do eventually I just picked the soap chunk out of my mug and rubbed it directly on my face and went to work on my face with my brush. That pass was very nice but with all subsequent passes the soap thinned out and dried on my face very quickly. The first pass was the only one where in I applied the soap directly to face.

Seems a bit impractical. Any suggestions? Or is this something I just have to deal with due to the relatively small size of the samples?

When I use their samples or any others that come in "Little Wedges or Chunks", I slice off thin pieces, like the ones you saw Paulie do in prison with his garlic, Goodfellas,,, these go into my bowl where there is hot water waiting, this softens & helps desolve them into lather as you work them in the bowl.

Watch the amount of water you use & don't be afraid to use a lot of the sample,,, it's just a sample,,,,

I think either rubbing them directly against your face or melting them into a small bowl (quick 5 second zaps in the microwave) are the best was to use these samples.

Thanks guys. And Hirlau gets bonus points for the Goodfellas reference.

Good to know the sample will need some "maneuvering". I too just ordered like 6 of their samples and am patiently waiting so see how they are.

Thanks Hirlau. I was able to make reasonably good lather using your technique the last two times I tried. I may try Taborcam's technique with some of the larger samples.

    Hi All,

Well i did not really want to open up another thread, and thought what I will share is within context.

Also, have received Mama Bear Samples, and thought would share my experience with SRP..
Well for starters regarding the order process:
    1. The homepage: well easy to navigate through, loads of information, and so so so many scents to choose from..(sigh)

    2. Order process: pretty much straight forward, there was a glitch in the order, yet a few emails corresponding with Sue (prompt and immediate response and assistance, and a delightful person to communicate with ) all was resolved right there and then.

    3. Order receipt: Product was fulfilled the same day and shipped, and arrived within 48 hours. (nice, very nice).

    4. The package: came in a nice simple box, and here is the content..

Mostly samples, and one large tub of Aqua di gio, something that i have used for over a decade and couldn't believe there was soap with this scent. The samples were slivers or small wedges, which are sufficient for quite a few shaves enough to decide, placed individually in some kind of butter paper envelopes. simple and straight forward... just right.

    5. Thoughts on product:
Initial Scent: out of the envelope, they were all great, awesome actually, some were even better than i expected.

The videos were quite informative on the different methods as to how to lather. All i did was get a mini cheese grater, and grate the samples into glass jars or similar, and flatten the shavings.. worked like a charm!! actually i believe it made lathering much much easier, guess its the increase in surface area...

Lather: well, i guess am still a newbie at this, (its been only two months with wet shaving).. and used an Escali brush (yeah i know , i know.. but have to admit, for me its doing wonders.. again am a newbie). So the below pics would show how the lather is going with Mama Bear Soap. although i have also tried palm and face lather..awesome..

I hope am doing this right . ... just experimenting over and over and over.. and I just go with what i feel is right and good.

The scent through out the shave is light and not that intense, yet some of the mentholated samples.. oh my... quite intense.. but great....

Shave: well as most use the terms cushion and slick.. well i believe that is there.. how good.. well am still in the beginning to have a benchmark...

Overall experience: Great, having a lot of fun and enjoying my shaves.. thats what counts .. and of course the post shave feel.. smooth.. no dryness at all!, and thankfully no irritation yet.

Thank you so much Mama Bear, and mucho respect for your business and craftsmanship..

    Over n out

    Default Escali

This was the first badger I bought and they work pretty well IMO. It lost quite a few hairs but for the price hey they are not bad. It is now my travel brush but when I am away from home I sure miss my silver tip. Lather looks pretty darn good too and if it works well that's all that counts.
