Thanked: 29Surprised and Not in a Good Way
Well I tried RazoRock XXX (new formula) tonight and I must say after the first use I was not that impressed. At least not the way I thought it would be. It is a fine soap, but I was not overly thrilled with the smell. I'm a big fan of different scents and this just kind of had a soapy smell to me, which was fine but I'm not sure what I was expecting.
It also dissipated on my face when shaving. I know this could be from a number of issues with water so I'm holding off judgement until I find the right water to soap ratio with it. Otherwise it was an okay shave, just not the wow factor I've gotten with other soaps. Just curious if I'm the only one who thinks this.

I have heard of others who don't like the scent either (each to their own). But it's rare to have problems with the lather. I assume that if you let the soap bloom, used a well-used brush, and gave it a good charge, then the only issue would be the water. Do you know if you have hard water? Have you had issues with the lather from other soaps?
I've never had a problem with Razorock lather- it's very reliable, thick and slick.

Thanked: 29This is the first time I've had a problem with a "high quality" soap. I've tried some cheaper stuff that didn't lather but you know that is cheap stuff. Everything else has been fine.
When I got it it seemed like it was half soap, half cream. It was hard, but also soft. I could have certainly pushed my finger with little effort all the way to the bottom of the tub. Is this common of RazorRock or maybe I jus got a bad tub?

It seems recently there have been some complaints with this last version of XXX regarding minimal scent. I compared my recent tub with a tub from the second run and found them nearly identical, with the exception that the new run has the added scent of the tallow. It's my opinion that XXX is by nature a little milder in scent than other RR soaps.
!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

Yes. Absolutely normal.
It's called a croap or soft soap. It's Italian-style shaving soap.
It is not a problem. It's a feature of the soap.
My suggestions:
Try using it for a week. Load more than normal. Use different brushes. Hand, face and bowl lather. Use distilled water.
If at the end of that you still don't like it or it doesn't lather well: Trade or sell it.

Thanked: 3227No problems here getting the current RR XXX to lather and stay hydrated on my face. Yes, it has a mild soapy scent. It is a croap, between cream and soap, not a hard soap so it will be softer/more pliable than MWF for instance. I would play with your brush loading technique and water ratios.

Thanked: 29Used RR XXX again this morning and a much better experience. Still not a fan of the smell but it lathered a lot better than it did on Saturday. I swirled in the tub a little longer to make sure the brush was loaded good and didn't have any problems when it came to face lathering. Guess I just had a bad night on Saturday.

The RR formula for each is soap would be similar. Trade/swap for a different scent.
