I tried something new....
ok i'm one of those guys that likes to try odds and ends so i did...i bought Shave Secret from walmart, it caught my eye and i gave it a shot this afternoon. It's natural oil and they claim you don't need any shave gels or any other assortments of pre/after shaves, and well they were right. I shaved with NO soap...i'm rather amazed. Suggested use is 3-5 drops and massage into the face and i shaved with just that oil and not a nick on my face. i even went jogging afterwards and there was no burning from nicks via sweat. also, it leaves your skin really soft, and when it gets dry from a pass just rewet your face, no additional drops. Give it a shot it also smells pretty good, it was 3.50 off the shelf.

Thanked: 79FWIW I like the stuff too. Great for touch ups, or to bring along when travelling, look no further. I do not use it under lather-it may or may not work well that way, and in any case is not how it is recommended to be used. Others will disagree perhaps with my opinion of this product, but this is the one shave oil I do still own.
It's the size of a bottle of eye drops, and works. Beyond that, I can't complain.

Thanked: 9Does it leave your face sticky? Any residue on razor?
I have a number of shave oils and I don't use any of them... Originally I thought they should be a great idea but experience was always sub-par

Thanked: 79Ivo,
It does leave a bit of a residue (mostly clove oil I think) on your face when all is done, the product claims that no aftershave is needed, simply rinse after shaving, and the oil itself serves as the aftershave. Which is basically true. Dries a tiny bit tacky, but not sticky, at all IMHO.
As for residue on a razor, it does gather up on the blade, but rinses off pretty much like lather does, this stuff is also the cat's meow if you ever find yourself using a cartridge razor, for instance at the airport. Takes a little more rinsing, but does far better than just about anything else sold there. I haven't tried it under lather, as I understand it is to be used instead, rather than in addition to.
On a straight, it really doesn't matter...it wipes right off. It's worth the couple bucks to try, at any rate. Is this available to you locally?
Hope this helps.

Thanked: 9Thank you, John
It's certainly cheap enough to try without regrets - my biggest concern is that I have collected a number of products that I don't use and am loath to add more to them
Cheers

it's definatley worth a shot for the price, i didn't experience any stickiness just smoothness ans softness as john p said, it serves as an aftershave.
