Thread: Goats Milk & Lanolin shave soap.

I have tried one goats milk soap (can't remember the maker) and it didn't lather well at all. I wouldn't even use it as hand soap. I threw it out. Haven't tried any others though. If you are planning on trying it I would get one puck first instead of multiple pucks.

Well i got the soap tonight, ive done quite a few test lathers in the last couple hours and well. its passable, but i cant get it to lather like my MWF. it seems to be insanely thirsty, but it also doesnt seem to hold water as well. (idk if thats the best way to describe it) i cant quite get to the over flowing whip cream stage like i can with MFW.

The scents pretty nice though, a little soapier then the MWF.

I'll keep trying to build a good lather with it, but for now, i'd say pass this one up.

On a side note, whats a soap or cream with explosive flushy lather and contains lanolin?

You might try adding 4 - 5 drops of glycerin and see if that might help.

There is a Mexican shaving soap that I ran across that seems to be a cross between Williams and MWF. Only $3.99 a puck (razorbladesandmore.com). I usually do an uberlather daily but every once in a while I'll do a solo lather like the Noble (Mexican) or the VDH Premium. Nice change of pace.

So what exactly is an uberlather?

I actually have some vegetable glycerin tried some, it maybe helped a bit, but it made my face feel weird.

I buy the liquid glycerin in the pharmacy section, very cheap. Too much usually makes your skin too dry.

An uberlather is a combination of soaps and creams. My basic is 3 -4 drops of glycerin, almond size glop of Maca Root, about a half inch of a tubed shaving cream (or what ever - can be another glop of a cream soap) and a 30 second swirl of Mitchell's Wool Fat. I do not trow it away at the end of my shave but the next day add a couple drops of glycein and the other staples again and re build my lather. Many variations and combinations can be used. I maintain an uber lather for about a week and then start over again.
