Quoting both for ease of comparison.

BTW, expensive and long lasting is half of a good thing. I buy cheap and it too lasts long .........

Well I know opinions always play a factor. But it sounds like mdc is still the favorite. So now let's talk about what scent to get. Take in mind that I have never owned mdc so I don't have any experience with it.

There is a lot about the scent of MdC in this thread http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...ervations.html.

I read most people prefer the Fougere....but I still prefer the original lavender/rosemary by a small margin.

Look at it this way....they only have 2 scents...so get both and you will enjoy both. I like Cherry Garcia and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Which is better?....depends on my mood.

As Obie correctly pointed out XPEC is advertised as a cream and MdC as a soap. After reading everyone's comments, I visited my shaving-den for my morning shave. I used my brand new Rooney 26mm STP brush for the first time. I made a point to use more water and loaded the brush heavily with more product. The lather was much improved and my shave was excellent. It's been a couple of hours since my shave was completed. The XPEC provides an extra slickness to your facial skin. The slickness is above and beyond what's provided by my other soaps and creams. Although pricey, I have no doubt I could rotate between these two well into the year 2016.

As a noob, having been wet shaving for about 4 months, i have both, and they are both great. I used the Xpec new formula this morning after not having it in rotation for months ( i have been using MdC, Mitchells, Mikes, Mystic Waters, Phoenix, Stirling, etc.) This is really great, it lathers yogurt like, its slick, smells fine . I think i love it more now that i have more comparisons. What does the Parapens do?

I don't want to derail this thread or upset anyone by mentioning another soap, but if someone is reading this and looking for an alternative to either one of these two, at a lot lower price, look at Cattie's Bubbles soaps. They can be had for $20 and come in many scents. Heres the ingredients as I read them from the jar. The ingredients are similar and is one reason I purchased the soap. I haven't pony'd up and spent the money on either MDC or Xpec but plan to in the near future.

    Ingredients for Catties Bubbles,
Stearic acid, water, coconut oil, potassium hydroxide, sodium lactate, Glycerine, Fragrance
Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....
