Question about mineral oil....
hey all, i'm just very curious if anyones ever used mineral oil to shave. Do any of you use this to make the face smooth and help the blade glide? And what reason would you NOT use it?

I would have said that the mineral oil may clog your pores, but after a quick search through Google, it appears that mineral oil is non-comedogenic
its a great moisturizer, but you may feel too greasy after your shave

MSDS
Mineral oil is ok on skin, but can be dangerous if you get the vapors in your lungs. “Aspiration pneumonia,” “Chemical pneumonia.” Now, I don’t know what any of that that means, but it sounds pretty bad. Also, may have a laxative effect if ingested. I don't think i would aply it anywhere near my mouth or nose.

Thanked: 0I've used it before, but I didn't really like the way it felt on my skin. It DID soften my whiskers, but I think the soap removed most of the oil, so there wasn't any glide benefit to my shave. You could use it if you didn't have all the time in the world to prep your whiskers, but the greasy feeling is what keeps me from using pre shave oils.

Lots of better oils to put on your face for shaving - jojoba (sp?) rose hip, among a host of others.
