    Ended up going with good ol' Palmolive for the first trip with the Kikuboshi. Amazing razor, really good cream. Thanks for the input gents!

    Thank you, yes the razor is a keeper , Palmolive is a sleeper, you can absolutely bomb it with water, very slick and protective, excellent straight razor cream. Post shave is kind of meh, but not a deal breaker.
