Thread: Tabac-Why So Good

Gentlemen,
I have had Mitchell's Wool Fat and Tabac in the shave den for a long time. Both are good soaps and I like everything about them, from fragrance to lather. Also, Mitchell's Wool Fat has never been a lather problem for me. I just load the brush well and swirl in the lather bowl, adding water as needed, and get fine lather every time.

Today, I soaked my puck of MWF for just a little bit before the shave and it was a whole new experience, not sure what I will use tomorrow but was very happy with how the MWF performed today. Still not as good as Tabac, but pretty nice. I can see both staying as standbys. Thanks again, yohannrjm.

Tabac is still in my short list of favorites, MDC , Castle Forbes , Institute Karrite, then Tabac, two on the expensive side and two on the inexpensive side , but I have never had a bad lather with Tabac, I pair it with the EDT and come away with a nice shave tc

Neither Tabac or MWF have ever failed to produce a great lather. As TC said, they are not MdC or Castle Forbes, but their price is a lot less.

Thanked: 220My tub of Tabac showed up, and I've used it for my last 2 shaves. Love it, & will now always be in my rotation. It smells good, and most of all it's easy to lather, producing a full cushion that actually gets better with every pass. IMO, it performs a lot like Proraso.

I haven't used Tabac Soap but with MWF I've always found it to be a great latherer. The trick is to use a bit more water than you usually do and make sure it's hot. It loads up better that way.

Thanked: 3215Try flooding the MWF container with warm water and let it set overnight. I had the same issue with it and could not understand what everybody saw in the soap.
In the morning drain off all the water and lather. Once a week or so leave a bit of water in the soap depression, to keep it moist.
Still not a fan of the sent, though.
