You're right about that, Baum. be seems to require an amount about the size of a pea.

Ya I tryed a small amount of the Baume.be from a friend. It was pretty good , if I wasn't sitting on 3 jars of MDC that are still 1/4 left , my next to buy is the Baume.be, but I still have my second favorite Castle Forbes and then there's my Institute Karitte so I,m a ways out on needing more soap, but then again don't need all I have , just a want issue Tc
Can't forget I do use Tabac every now and then , and to tell the truth performance wise it's pretty hard to beat, just not as pleasant tomsmellnas the others“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

Not quite sure why this wasn't appended to the original thread, but here goes:
- Meißner Tremonia: The best products currently in the market, end of story. I find the notion of "uberlather" built from paste and soap rather amusing, though, because their soap is simply their cured paste. Any road, everything about these products is right: superb packaging, sublime scents, perfect cushion and glide, and outstanding skin care.
- Domenico Caraceni: Sadly, no longer available, but great while it lasted. Rose and pepper, nothing else. Sometimes, less is more, and with this cream, that clearly was the case.
- Baume.be: Only one scent available, but if you like it, you have a killer product, packaged just as nicely as Meißner Tremonia.
- Green Mountain Soap: Affordable, conservatively scented, efficient. Hand made in the US, and a damn sight better than the currently hyped "artisan" products. As in, this is a professional product made by individuals vs this is an amateur product made by amateurs. Should money ever become an issue for me, this will be my go-to soap.
- Savonnerie du bon Berger: The scents are rustic, but the price is right, and the performance even more so. Martin de Candre may be the French hype soap du jour, but this soap costs only a fraction, yet delivers significantly better performance. Hard to get outside Europe, and therefore probably less well known. En par with Le père Lucien, but cheaper.
- Castle Forbes: Well, yes. No top whatever list without Castle Forbes. Ten years later, I don't find the scents as exciting as they used to be, but that doesn't really matter because the creams still blow 99% of the competition out of the water. The aftershave balms are no match for modern top performing products like Baume.be, Esbjerg, or Meißner Tremonia, though.
- St James of London: Right, Creightons. The makers of probably all English shaving creams. This is their own brand, and if you get the right coupons at the right moment, you will not get better value for money as far as shaving creams go. If you can live with more proletarian scents, get one of their other own brands, which perform almost the same (blind tested on three humans).

I have a Meissner Paste and I am very, very happy with its performance. I rank it with Castle Forbes, Baum.be and Czech&Speake.
Having said that, I will still keep MdC as my Sunday soap. YMMVIf you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
